5 April 2023: Moa Subong received Padma Shri Award 2023 in the field of Art

Shri. Moa Subong received Padma Shri Award 2023 in the field of Art from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday at the second Investiture Ceremony held this year in Darbar Hall, Rashtrapati Bhavan in new Delhi.
Moa is the co-founder of folk fusion band Abiogenesis, a renowned band from Nagaland. Moa started the band with his wife Arenla Subong. The band has won several accolades including the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Music.
Moa Subong is also credited for inventing the ‘bamhum’ a flute-like musical instrument made of bamboo. He also developed ‘Tikzik,’ a Naga Bamboo percussion instrument.
Earlier this year in the month of March, Smti. Neihunuo Sorhie also received Padma Shri Award 2023 in the field of Art.

Andrea Kevichusa, model & actress from Nagaland won the Best Debut Actors (female category) award for her role as Aido in ‘Anek’ movie at the 68th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2023.
She played the role of Aido in the film ‘Anek’ that featured Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. The film was released in May, 2022.
