08 September 2021: NSCN (K) group enters one year ceasefire agreement with GoI

National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki Group entered into ceasefire agreement for one year with the Government of India on 8th September 2021. As per media reports, more than 200 cadres of the outfit joined the ceasefire with 83 weapons.

In a statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said the agreement would boost the Naga peace process, under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an insurgency-free and prosperous northeast.

09 September 2021: Governor of Nagaland RN Ravi transferred out and assigned Governor of Tamil Nadu

RN Ravi, the interlocutor of Naga peace talks and the Governor of Nagaland State has been transferred and assigned the Governor of Tamil Nadu on 09 September 2021. RN Ravi served as the 19th Governor of Nagaland from 1 August 2019 to 9 September 2021.

  • RN Ravi is an IPS officer of 1976 batch from Kerala cadre.
  • In 2012, he retired as the Special Director of Intelligence Bureau.
  • In 2014, he was appointed as the government interlocutor on the Naga peace talks
  • In 2015, framework agreement was signed with the NSCN-IM, in which RN Ravi was a signatory on behalf of the Centre, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • In 2019, he was made the Governor of Nagaland besides the responsibility of being the interlocutor of Naga Peace Talks. He took charge as the 19th Governor of Nagaland in 2019.

15 September 2021: Anglo-Lotha Dictionary is the ‘First Naga dictionary with International Phonetic Alphabet’

Advisor IT, S&T and N&RE, Mmhonlumo Kikon released the ‘Anglo-Lotha Dictionary’ on 15 September 2021 during the Wokha District Planning and Development Board meeting. As per news reports, the Director, Department of Art & Culture (DA&C) stated that the ‘Anglo-Lotha Dictionary’ was the first Naga regional dictionary to use the International Phonetic Alphabet.

16 September 2021: Akshaya Kumar Mishra reportedly to be the new Naga Peace Talks interlocutor

After the transfer of the R.N. Ravi out of Nagaland in September 2021, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is reportedly all set to appoint Akshay Kumar Mishra as the new interlocutor for Naga Peace talks, though official notification is not yet released by GoI.

A K Mishra is an IPS officer of 1987 batch of the Rajasthan cadre. Like the RN Ravi, Mishra is also a former Special Director of Intelligence Bureau.

17 September 2021: Prof. Jagdish Mukhi is the 20th Governor of Nagaland

Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam, took oath as the 20th Governor of Nagaland (additional charge) on 17th September 2021 at the Raj Bhavan, Kohima.  The oath was administered by Justice Songkhupchung Setro of Gauhati High Court at Dr Imkongliba Ao hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima.

Mukhi is the 30th Governor of Assam and assumed the additional charge of Governor of Nagaland after transfer of former Governor R.N. Ravi.

17 September 2021: Nagaland’s first Software Technology Park Centre inaugurated in Kohima

Nagaland’s first Software Technology Park Centre was inaugurated on 17 September 2021 at Kohima by Shri.Rajeev Chandrasekhar, ‘Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT’. The Software Technology Park Centre inaugurated in Kohima is the 61st Software Technology Park of India (STPI). MoU was signed in 2015 during the e-Naga Summit to set up the Software Technology Park of India at Kohima, Nagaland.

Nagaland to create 5,000 IT jobs in two years: Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor to the Department of IT, Science and Technology, New & Renewable Energy announced that Nagaland Government has decided to create 5,000 jobs for the IT and Information Technology-enabled services (ITES) in the next 2 years.

18 September 2021: Name of the new ‘Opposition-less’ government in Nagaland to be called ‘United Democratic Alliance’

Name of the new ‘Opposition-less’ government in Nagaland to be called ‘United Democratic Alliance’. Reportedly, the nomenclature of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for the Opposition-less government in Nagaland was unanimously approved by the legislators and party leaders of NDPP, BJP, NPF and Independent MLAs.

Earlier on 16th August 2021, as per media reports, the opposition-less government was reportedly named ‘Nagaland united government (NUG)’ alliance.

Nagaland CM also announced on Twitter above the about the nomenclature of the new ‘Opposition-less’ government in Nagaland.
