03 Feb 2026: Naga Theatre group from Nihoto Village presents play at the 25th edition of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav

  • Zoe Theatre And Art Association from Nihoto Village presenting the play ‘The Tragedy of Lunch Pack- Anagho’ at the 25th edition of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav, Asia’s largest theatre festival.
  • ‘The play ‘The Tragedy of Lunch Pack- Anagho’ is written and directed by V Uto Chishi.

03 Feb 2026: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organised State Credit Seminar (SCS) 2026-27

  • Released State Focus Paper 2026-27 highlighting major socio-economic indicators of Nagaland.
  • The publication serves as a critical input for formulation of the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) by banks operating in the State.
  • Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLPs) for all 17 districts of Nagaland launched.
  • Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) (2025-26 at current prices) : at Rs 43,470 crore.
  • Mokokchung –  highest sericulture production in the State
  • State produces 42.57% of its meat, egg, and dairy needs, valued at Rs 1,020.67 crores, with a 57.43% shortfall.
  • Manufacturing sector’s growth estimated at 7.3%
  • 11 District Industrial Office and 14 Sub District Industrial Office in the state as on 2023-24.

5 Feb 2026: Centre Ink Pact To Establish Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority

  • A tripartite accord was signed on 5 Feb 2026 between the Central government, Nagaland Government, and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) to create the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
  • The pact will facilitate the establishment of FNTA encompassing six districts: Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak, and Shamator
  • The arrangement transfers authority over 46 subjects to the FNTA.

05 Feb 2026: Bamsiakilwa village, Peren, declared as ‘Mithun Village’

  • The Bamsiakilwa Mithun Rearing Society organised the first edition of the Hebamlo Mithun Festival at Bamsiakilwa village in Peren district on February 5.

05 Feb 2026: Nagaland set to lose fiscal support under Sixteenth Finance Commission (16th FC) – (2026–31)

  • Nagaland is set to lose some fiscal support under the proposed Sixteenth Finance Commission (16th FC) award period (2026–31).
  • Arvind Panagariya-led 16th FC report, tabled in Parliament on February 1, 2026, for the five-year period from 2026–27 to 2030–31.

Key highlights:

  • Reduction in share of central taxes: from 0.573% under the 15th FC to 0.481% under the 16th FC.
  • Possible withdrawal of revenue deficit grants as the Commission has recommended discontinuing such grants.
  • It also called for the discontinuation of sector-specific and State-specific grants.
  • Under the 15th FC (2021–26), the total Post-Devolution RDG recommended to Nagaland, stood at Rs 21,249 crore, averaging about Rs 4,248 crore annually. In addition, State-specific grants amounting to Rs 525 crore were provided during the same period.
  • Grants-in-aid to local rural and urbn bodies to continue.
  • The 16th FC has placed Nagaland among States with a low Own Tax Revenue (OTR) to GSDP ratio, at just 5.5%, the third lowest after Tripura and Manipur.

6 Feb 2026: All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch agitation in Kohima for regulation

  • Demand: regularization of 1166 ANATG-2015 Batch based on the High Powered Committee Agreement 2022 signed between the Government of Nagaland and the ANATG 2015 Batch on October 7, 2022.
