23 Jan 2025: HPZ crypto scam kingpin declared fugitive by a special court in DImapur, Nagaland

A special court at Dimapur in Nagaland declared Bhupesh Arora, a fugitive under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act (FEOA) 2018. He is the “kingpin” in the Rs. 2,200 crores cryptocurrency racket run as HPZ Token. As per reports in the media, a case, which was initially registered by the State Cyber Crime Police Station in Kohima and was later transferred to the Enforcement Directorate.

25 Jan 2025: Nagaland’s Trance Effect band announced partnership with South Korea based management company

Trance Effect, an alternative/pop rock band from Nagaland announced partnership with Seoul-based management company, Sound Puzzle Co Ltd. As per media reports, Sound Puzzle will now oversee and manage Trance Effect’s overseas performances, expanding their reach to international audiences.

25 Jan 2025: L Hangthing from Noklak selected for Padma Shri 2025 award in the field of Agriculture

  • L Hangthing from Noklak, Nagaland, has been selected for Padma Shri 2025 award in the field of Agriculture.
  • The 58 years old fruit farmer from Noklak district of Nagaland has been conferred the Padma Shri 2025 award for his services in progressive fruit farming in the State.

The Padma Shri awards were announced on 25th Jan 2025, and 139 individuals have been conferred the Padma awards in various fields.

Padma Awards is one among the civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Bharat Ratna Award is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India.

  • Four Nagaland police officials and one Naga officer from Assam Rifles awarded medals on 76th Republic Day, 2025.
  • Recipients of medals on 76th Republic Day, 2025 are:
    • Shri. Imtiakum Pongen, Assistant Commandant, Nagaland Police  – President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM)
    • Shri. Shouka Kakheto (Additional SP), Shri. Zasilie Angami (Sub Inspector) and Shri.  Metseirovi Sakhrie (Naik) , all from Nagaland Police, were awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
    • Shri. Eshenthung Kikon, Assistant Commandant of 4th Assam Rifles was awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
  • The Centre on 25 Jan 2025 announced 942 service medals, including 95 for gallantry, for personnel of various central and state police forces.

26 Jan 2025: Nagaland launches mobile operation theatre on Republic Day

  • The Nagaland government launched a mobile operation theatre on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, 2025.
  • Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio flagged off the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CMMOT). The CMMOT will deliver advanced surgical and healthcare services to rural and remote areas of Nagaland. The facility features a fully equipped mobile surgical unit and portable diagnostic tools such as ultrasound, X-ray, endoscopy, and blood testing equipment, along with instruments for minimally invasive surgeries.
