2 March 2021: Nagaland’s launched its first air cargo services from Dimapur Airport

The first air cargo service from Dimapur Airport was launched by the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on 2nd March 2021.

The air cargo service from Dimapur Airport is a joint initiative of Department of Horticulture, Nagaland and Airport Authority of India with Air India and Indigo as airline partners.

03 March 2021: Aspirational District in Nagaland, Kiphire, ranked 2nd position overall in the country for January 2021 in NITI Aayog’s Delta Ranking of Aspirational Districts

Kiphire secured second position overall in NITI Aayog’s Delta Ranking of Aspirational Districts. Delta Ranking is done every month measuring incremental progress.

Under Theme based Performance monthly delta ranking for January 2021, Kiphire district ranked –

  • 1st in Health & Nutrition theme,
  • 20th in Education theme,
  • 74th in Financial Inclusion & Skill Development theme,
  • 90th in Basic Infrastructure theme and
  • 68th in Agriculture & Water Resources theme.

Kiphire District is the only Aspirational District in Nagaland.

In December 2020, Kiphire District was ranked 112 in overall Performance Delta Ranking. In January 2021 Kiphire jumped to second spot in the NITI Aayog rank index.

The NITI Aayog Aspirational District Program was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, which aims to quickly and effectively transform Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Water Resources, Financial Inclusion & Skill Development, and Basic Infrastructure are this programme’s core areas of focus.

Sentila T. Yanger, founder of Tribal Weave featured in the ‘Women Achievers’ report released by the Ministry of Women and Child Development on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2021.

Yanger is a social entrepreneur, culture curator, Naga textile specialist, and craft revivalist based in Dimapur.

8 March 2021: Five women from Nagaland awarded “Nagaland State Commission for Women Award 2021” on International Women’s Day in Kohima

Nagaland State Commission for Women Award 2021 was awarded to five women achievers from Nagaland–

  1. Abeiu Meru, President, Naga Mothers’ Association;
  2. Dr. Vezokholu Theyo, Chief Medical Officer, Kohima,
  3. Dr. Visakhonü Hibo, President, Nagaland College Principals’ Association,
  4. S. Anungla, pastor, Chang Baptist Church, Kohima, and
  5. Inspector Rose Yanthan, officer-in-charge, Women Police Station, Dimapur police.

The award programme was jointly organised by the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW), Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) under Social Welfare department.

26 March 2021: Nagaland Chief Minister commissioned water supply project at Mima, Kohima

Nagaland Chief Minister commissioned the project ‘augmentation of water supply to Kohima town by pumping from Zarü River’ at Mima village under the Kohima district.

As per newspaper reports, water supply from the project is connected to the existing distribution system and is currently catering to around 3,000 consumers in areas like the PR Hill, Chandmari, PWD, and part of the main town which are covered with the department’s water supply.
